Volvere

Volvere

Many of the engineering innovations we have pioneered in our flagship models are equally relevant to all our turntables.

Nowhere is this more evident than in the Volvere and having evolved over two decades, this latest generation incorporating our latest external DSP signal-generating power supply, which totally removes the vagaries of the mains signal, allows the precise calibration of motor speed so everything is pitch perfect.

"I can easily recommend this turntable with good conscience"
- Jeff Dorgay

Key Features

  • Twin Belt Drive System
  • Unique Sapphire Bearing
  • Vibration Transfer Clamp
  • Bespoke DSP Power Supply
  • Frequency Tuned Suspension

Innovating Emotion

Designed and handcrafted to the same precision engineering standards as the Acutus turntable, bespoke versions of the unique clamping, stainless steel bearing and suspension systems have been developed and applied to this novel design.

External vibrations are dissipated by our variable frequency suspension system, effectively isolating the cartridge from extraneous influence making for a dynamic, powerful sound and full of emotion.

"I just couldn’t believe the sound"
- Steve Harris

Musical Master

Musical Master

Listening to your favourite albums, from Led Zeppelin to Beethoven, the Volvere has the ability to reveal everything, from the low bass power of Rock music, or the rhythmic subtleties of Jazz to the full musical spectrum of a Classical masterpiece.

Volvere delivers a substantial sound, its forte being bass, which it delivers with a weight and power that is rare among turntables in this class. There is more than just bass, because of the very low noise floor, real instruments float in the soundscape and there is excellent front to back depth as well as left to right width, sucking you into a soundstage that will bring you into the performance.

"Magnificent sense of focus and stability, whatever the material played"
- Adam Smith

What's inside

Volvere enjoys a bespoke designed Power Supply for its high torque motor. Incorporating our latest generation DSP signal-generating interface as used in our reference turntables within its own casework and large mains transformer, this totally removes the vagaries of the mains power signal and allowing precise calibration of motor speed. Like all our turntables, each power supply is calibrated to the drive motor, tuning out vibration and maximising torque power, giving you clear, transparent sound with fast and controlled dynamic bass response, everything you need to enjoy your favourite music.

Volvere uses a 55mNm torque power motor. So what? Well, it is typically four times more powerful than motors used in common alternative designs. That extra power, along with our twin belt drive is put to good use, maximising the platter dynamics so music starts and stops like it should, without bass overhang slurring notes. Timing is superb, the all-important rhythm of music fully preserved and laid bare for you to enjoy.

Our single action clamp, crafted from solid aluminium with a stainless-steel grounding point, automatically flattens your records to the platter surface and aids the negative vibration present within the record to pass through the spindle to the subchassis below.

This reduces the noise floor of the record itself, allowing you to hear more information and realism from your cherished records.

Precision machined balanced from a solid billet of aluminium, the platter is mass loaded at the edge, giving it a high rotational inertia. Coupling with the conical shaped bearing, there is no lateral movement as it self-centres. The cork mat offers a perfect interface to reflect vibration, keeping it in the record so it passes away more efficiently through the spindle. Around the edge we have employed a high-density rubber absorbing ring, acting as a peripheral wave trap for any minor vibration in the platter.

Derived directly from the Acutus, the fixed spindle is press fitted into the subchassis, which allows optimum vibration transmission. Common with all our turntables, the captive tungsten carbide ball placed in the spindle top, locates centrally in our uniquely designed sapphire jewelled thrust point. With zero lateral movement we manage to eliminate rumble noise making AVID turntables silent. The bearing is also self-lubricating and maintenance free for life.

Cast from large grain aluminium, our uniquely designed subchassis optimises rigidity where its most required to keep the tonearm and bearing coupled to prevent any loss of musical information. A coating is applied to specifically damp high frequency vibration, so that both high and low frequency vibration is time aligned during dissipation, give a clear, focused and neutral sound.

Taking inspiration from our reference models, the uniquely frequency adjustable suspension is carried down to our Sequel and Volvere models. With each suspension point tuneable to the same frequency rate regardless of the changing load of different tonearms, the movement of the suspension can be optimised for a high degree of isolation. Tuned at 3.5Hz, very little external vibration enters the turntable keeping noise and distortion exceptionally low. This means you hear more clearly and your cartridge tracks records more faithfully and without the potential to damage them through mistracing.
